Showing up: Local

An introvert by nature, I have been involved in a personal healing-process-at-home… isn’t this where most healing processes occur? Writing, blogging, teaching and coaching small groups online and onsite North and South of Boston, I have started to understand my new role as a teacher, coach, companion, and care consultant. Ora et labora, prayer and work, the Benedictines say… has been one in the same for me, fire and water communicated wherever I go. The work is a prayer and purpose-filled.

It was fun and a bit ironic to meet my North Andover neighbors, Larry Peacock and Anne Broyles in Assisi, Italy this past May, as part of the Spiritual Directors International “Walking the Footsteps of Saint Francis and Saint Clare” pilgrimage. Larry invited me to teach at the Rolling Ridge Retreat Center, and now there is a Respite Retreat for Family Caregivers on the schedule for February 27.

As part of the awareness outreach for this program, I searched for North Andover cafe locations, and found the Good Day Cafe´. I showed up there today to meet anyone interested in learning more about the retreat. In the process of showing up today, I understood a longer-term invitation… to make my presence weekly through the end of March, in the spirit of service. So, I enter a commitment to meet anyone who would benefit from a free 15-minute Cafe´Care Consult, Thursdays, 2-3:30pm, through March 28.

Moving forward with a listening heart,
vision, inquiry, and action,
~ Mary
