NPR has covered the topic that is so well known to those of us who have walked and are still walking the long-term caregiver path, AARP Finds Toll On Family Caregivers Is ‘Huge’.
If you are not currently a long-term caregiver, but know of a friend, family member or neighbor who currently has this “job,” please consider offering your help once a week or once a month. This could look like:
1. Respite Care: Offer to spend an hour or two with the person who is living with extended illness.
2. Appointments: Offer to take the person living with extended illness to their hair/nails/grocery/doctor’s appointment.
3. Errands: Offer to do one or some of the errands for the family on a weekly or monthly basis (grocery shopping, housekeeping, laundry, dry cleaning, etc.)
4. Take the caregiver and/or care-receiver out for a fun ride.

vision, inquiry and action,
